Our local team- Ilektra

Who are you within the Kingdom?
I’m a caretaker of this wild little mountain home, someone who lives between pine trees, dogs, solar panels, and the laughter of young people. I hold the vision of a wild learning sanctuary on Skiathos, where community, creativity, and nature weave into daily life. My work is to nurture this place and the people who step into it. Together, we are shaping something beautiful and real.

Your path to the Kingdom
Life, curiosity, and a deep love for learning led me here. After years of searching for more human, nature-rooted ways of living and educating, Skiathos became the place where all those ideas could finally take shape. What began as a small dream grew into a hub that now connects local youth, worldschooling families, volunteers, and travelers from all over the world.

What do you offer to this place?
I bring vision, structure, and a lot of heart. I create opportunities, build programs, design learning spaces, hold community meetings, and make sure the Kingdom stays both magical and functional. I try to make everyone feel welcome, neurodiverse minds, wanderers, children, locals, and help them find their place here.

What keeps you inspired?
People. The small transformations. The way children learn by touching the earth. The way volunteers grow by living simply and collaboratively. The way this place constantly evolves through the hands and hearts of those who pass through.
And the belief that education, when freed, can be joyful, wild, and deeply human.

And looking forward…
I dream of a flourishing learning hub where locals and travelers meet naturally. A stronger ESC and Erasmus+ community. Seasonal programs shaped by nature, creativity, and the people who come. This year, I hope to launch our podcast on alternative education in Greece, giving space to voices, stories, and ideas that deserve to be heard.
And when the moment feels right, we will begin hosting time-specific Worldschoolers hubs, gentle, intentional gatherings where families can learn, play, and grow together in the wild rhythm of the island.
