Meet the Heart of Joyce ’n’ Fun

Behind every project, workshop, and smile, there’s a passionate team of dreamers, educators, and volunteers. Together, we build bridges between cultures, empower young minds, and bring the spirit of Skiathos to life every day.

Those Who Hold the Roots (local support team)

These are the steady hands and warm hearts who keep the spirit of our hub alive year-round. They nurture the land, the routines, and the community, creating a foundation for every new adventure.

Ilektra

Guardian of the land

I’m Ilektra, walking this mountain with open hands and a messy, joyful heart. I love creating places where children, travelers, and ideas can meet freely. Every person who arrives adds a new color to our story.

Joyce

Cat whisperer

Joyce is a gentle, creative presence in our family, usually followed by a cat and a trail of stories waiting to be told. She offers warmth, laughter, and comforting conversations about writing, characters, and music to anyone who needs support. Quiet but deeply caring, Joyce brings kindness and inspiration to our everyday life.

Kate

The mentor

Kate is a deeply rooted presence in the Kingdom, bringing wisdom from years of community, human rights, and permaculture work into everyday life on the land. With warmth, humour, and an open heart, she offers mentorship, practical support, and a safe space for connection. Her love for people, stories, and children learning close to nature gently nourishes the whole community.

Pepe

The Hands and Heart of Natural Building

Pepe is one of the Kingdom’s steady, joyful pillars—always ready to lend a hand in natural building, gardening, or even the kitchen when pizza calls. His love for nature, permaculture, and community shines through everything he does. With curiosity and a generous spirit, he helps the land and its people grow together.

Daphne

Kitchen Fairy

Daphne is a cherished friend of the Kingdom, a fellow islander whose son loves spending time in our forest home. She brings her love of food, plants, and seasonal living into every visit, often supporting workshops with her cooking and her gentle presence. She adds depth, care, and a shared sense of home to our community. You can explore more of her world and inspirations at trooliving.com.

Masul

The Hands Behind the Kingdom’s Website

This website exists thanks to the care, patience, and presence of our web developer, who helped shape the Kingdom’s digital home. Beyond building the site you’re visiting, he remains a steady support, always ready to help, adjust, and evolve things with us. His work is rooted in collaboration, clarity, and a genuine desire to serve meaningful projects.

This Season’s Companions (current volunteers)

These are the explorers, dreamers, and doers who have joined us for this chapter or who plan on joining us in the next weeks. They bring energy, curiosity, and fresh ideas, leaving their mark on the land and the lives they touch.

Léonie

Curious Heart on a Gap Year

She arrives from Québec with bright curiosity and an open smile, carrying stories from Asia and a love for simple joys. Through nature walks, shared meals, and quiet conversations, she explores what it means to live slowly and together.

Samuele

Forest Dreamer & Gentle Forager

He arrives from Italy with a quiet smile and a curiosity shaped by animals, forests, and simple living. Drawn here by a last minute call to nature, he moves gently through the land, sharing what he knows and learning with open hands.

Footprints from the Past (previous volunteers)

These are the kindred spirits who have walked our paths before, leaving traces of their laughter, creativity, and care. Visitors can still see them through the projects they left behind—a bridge, a washing machine, or even a house—quiet reminders of their time with us.

Camilla, Yannick, and Betta

A Traveling Family of Hands and Paws

Camilla, Yannick, and Betta arrived at the Kingdom as travelers, carrying with them the quiet confidence of people deeply at home in nature. With backgrounds in countryside living, agriculture, animals, and forest work, they share their skills generously while learning from each place they pass through. Whether working, walking, or simply being outdoors together, they bring a grounded, joyful energy to the community.

Basil

Second king of the Kingdom

Basil arrived with an open heart and a simple wish: to experience life, connect with people, and share moments of joy. He brings an easy presence to the Kingdom — helping wherever needed, learning as he goes, and sometimes dreaming of fermenting olives. His journey is guided by curiosity, spontaneity, and a quiet desire to feel at home.

Alex

Creative Maker & Community Helper

He arrives with openness, curiosity, and a creative spirit. Whether experimenting with materials, sharing stories, or lending a thoughtful hand, he brings warmth and intention to the community.

Nina

Macramé artist

Nina is a French nomad who follows the quiet signs of life and feels most at home in forests and mountains. Drawn to simple, nature-rooted living, she sees the Kingdom as a small piece of paradise aligned with her path. She arrives with a bundle of crafting materials, ready to create macramé and other handmade treasures and to share her skills with anyone curious. Nina hopes for joyful moments, new friendships, and growth before continuing her journey toward India, guided by beauty, kindness, and an open heart.
