Living School

Between sea and forest, we learn by doing, sharing, and dreaming. Where technology meets touch, and curiosity leads the way.

Learning Beyond Walls

Learning is everywhere, under the open sky, by the garden beds, through shared stories around the fire.
At Joyce ’n’ Fun, we live and learn outside, in the wild rhythm of nature, where the wind and the weather are also teachers.

We walk a learner-centered path, where children, youth, and adults grow side by side, discovering, creating, and learning through life itself. Because traditional schooling is mandatory in Greece, our doors open after hours, on weekends and holidays, offering a free learning space for local youth to explore beyond the classroom.

Here, local kids meet worldschooling families, and travelers of all ages join in the play, turning the island into a living school.
We are proud members of EUDEC and Ecoversities, and collaborate with a growing constellation of learning communities around the world.

We also believe that new technologies, when used with care and purpose, can be powerful tools for exploration and connection. Even though our off-grid land offers limited internet access in certain areas, we are not a no-screen space. Instead, we encourage a healthy relationship with digital tools — blending the natural and the virtual worlds to inspire creativity, curiosity, and balance.

The Worldschooling Hub

Our Worldschooling Hub welcomes families who feel at home in a simple, nature-rooted way of life, living mostly outdoors, off-grid, with shared spaces, modest accommodation, and limited electricity. Comfort here is found in presence, rhythm, and connection rather than convenience.

This is a place of co-learning and community living, where the classroom is the forest, the kitchen, and the sea. Families, educators, travelers, and lifelong learners gather to explore sustainable living, alternative education, and ways of growing together across ages and cultures.

Days unfold through morning circles, shared meals, creative workshops, and long stretches of unstructured time to wander, wonder, play, rest, and simply be. Living outdoors invites adaptability, care, collaboration, and a deeper appreciation for simplicity.

For now, the hub remains open and evolving, welcoming everyone into a flexible flow of community life. In time, we will offer time-specific programs and themed residencies around storytelling, natural building, role-playing games, ecology, and arts in education. New themes will continue to emerge from the ideas and passions of participants of all ages, and everyone is invited to offer a workshop and share what they love.

Here, learning is not a curriculum, it is a way of being, wild, shared, and alive.

Erasmus+ and Beyond

Our approach to education extends far beyond our island’s shores.
Through Erasmus+ Youth Exchanges and Training Courses, and the European Solidarity Corps, we both host and send participants across Europe.

Each experience, whether on Skiathos or abroad, follows the same philosophy: learning through living, creating through caring, growing through encounter.

Participants engage in non-formal education, sustainability, and intercultural collaboration, gaining not only new skills but also new perspectives on community and self.

From the wild mountain of Skiathos to projects across Europe, and back again, every journey becomes a lesson, every encounter, a seed for change.
